The Fourth of July has always held special meaning for us at Herb Chambers. It’s more than fireworks and barbecues. It’s a time to reflect on the values that bring us together: freedom, resilience, and unity.

For Herb Chambers himself, Independence Day carries an even deeper significance. It’s a reminder of a chapter that helped shape his life. Long before becoming a household name in the New England automotive world, Herb was a young man in uniform. From 1959 to 1963, he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electrician, stationed in Jacksonville, Florida; South Weymouth, Massachusetts; and Quonset Point, Rhode Island. He also served aboard the USS Lake Champlain during the Cuban Blockade.

Those years left a lasting impact shaping the man we know today. They taught him discipline, loyalty, and the importance of looking out for others. That same spirit helped lay the foundation for this company, and it’s one of the many reasons this holiday holds such meaning for our team. We know how important it is to care for the guests who trust us to guide them through the process of buying and servicing their vehicles.
